Winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Play, The Mountaintop explores the human side of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. as he forms an unlikely friendship with a motel maid on the eve of his assassination. Hours after his famed final speech, punctuated by the immortal line “I’ve been to the mountaintop,” the celebrated reverend reveals his hopes, regrets, and fears, creating a masterful bridge between mortality and immortality.
