The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at Washington State University is hosting a Structures faculty candidate seminar presented by Arghavan Louhghalam, Data-driven and Physics-informed Modeling of Infrastructure Systems: From Low-emission Mobility to Resilience Analytics.
His team conducts research that focuses on water reuse and environmental chemistry, with an emphasis on reducing the environmental loading of anthropogenic chemicals.
In this seminar, the development and validation of performance-based seismic retrofit (PBSR) methodology is being presented. Unlike traditional force-based design methods, the PBSR method enables engineers to design and retrofit buildings to explicitly meet the pre-defined performance criteria for different levels of earthquake intensity; and eventually, results in a more efficient and comprehensive method of retrofitting multi-story buildings.
