About the event

Nutrition, landscape change and honey bee health: A transatlantic dialogue

This event is the first COLOSS North America meeting connecting participants from scientific to beekeeping to veterinarian and agriculture fields across the United States, Canada and Europe. The purpose of this conference is to leverage and exchange knowledge in different fields within the beekeeping sector. The meeting will also help the different groups develop long-term relationships and partnerships.

• Saturday, June 6 begins with registration at 7:00 a.m., and ends with a reception from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
• Sunday, June 7 begins with registration at 7:00 a.m., and ends with a session from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
• Monday, June 8 begins with registration at 7:00 a.m., and ends with a poster reception from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, June 9 begins with registration at 7:00 a.m., and ends with a experiential sessions from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

OPTIONAL tour days and sign-up required as space is limited.

June 10

• Visit WSU Bee Program Othello facility
• Panels and discussions with North American commercial beekeepers and touring of the Othello facilities (migratory beekeeper, honey producer, queen breeder)
• Lunch and travel to beekeeping operations for tour

June 11

• Meet at Othello Bee Facility for tours to understand about large-scale pollination and honey production in North America
• Visit commercial tree fruit cropping systems
• Visit commercial canola and seed cropping systems

June 12

• No formal events planned; Summary panel and reflections, discussions and wrap up the meeting
