First-Generation Graduate Student Seminar Series

The David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities at WSU is organizing the First-Generation Graduate Student Seminar Series for Fall 2026. The objective of this series is to provide First-Gen grad students and First-Gen international grad students (international students who are first in their families to attend college or international students who are first in their families to come to the U.S. to attend college) with a space where they can connect with other students and share the challenges that they are facing in graduate school. For each seminar, we will also invite faculty members from various departments who were First-Gen students to share their own experiences, share resources, and answer any questions from the participating First-Gen graduate students. We hope that these meetings will help the First-Gen students at WSU build a community across disciplines.

We are planning to meet 4 times during the Fall semester for 2-hour informal discussions with a panel of facilitators. These meetings will take place 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, October 2, October 9, October 16, and October 23 in the Bundy Reading Room, Avery Hall. We will also provide dinner for all the participants.

Please note that there is NO COST for participating in this series.
