About the event

This session will illuminate anti-Black racism in order to see the historical rootedness as the thread that is interwoven through current policies, practices, and pedagogies. The facilitator will discuss why it is important to center antiracist work on deeply understanding anti-Black racism and focusing on Black students to begin the liberatory work that lies ahead. The veil of white supremacy is drawn back to better identify and address anti-Black racism. Once one’s vision is cleared and people can identify anti-Black racism, they can take action to address and thereby, interrupt and work to eradicate anti-Black racism in their spheres of influence. Strategies and approaches for disrupting anti-Black racism are introduced in order to move toward racial healing and reconciliation.
