About the event

The Digital Technology and Culture Department continues the DTC Expert Series: conversations with industry professionals and researchers in graphic design, web design, UX design, social media, data visualization, communications, video gaming, animation, systems design, music, and more. Hosted by DTC professor Tor de Vries via Zoom, guests discuss their fields and share thoughts for students.

On Friday, April 29, at noon (PST), we will be joined by Brent Almond, a successful graphic designer, art director, and illustrator for more than 20 years. He worked at several design firms before branching out on his own. As a one-man shop, Brent has partnered with the likes of NPR, The Kennedy Center, Girl Scouts, The Nature Conservancy, and The Washington Post. His work has been honored by over 200 industry awards and publications, including Addys, Art Directors Club, Print, Graphis, and LogoLounge; and he was profiled by Graphic Design USA as one of 2022’s People to Watch. In 2012, Brent started DesignerDaddy.com, a blog documenting his journey as a new father through the lens of creativity; it has been honored by Iris Awards and BlogHer’s Voices of the Year, and is regularly included on “Top Blogger” lists. Whenever possible, Brent uses his talents to further good in the world, advocating for causes and organizations related to LGBTQ+ rights, adoption/foster care, and the environment. Brent earned a BFA in studio art from Baylor University.

Join us via Zoom for a conversation with Brent about the design industry and his work as a designer, brand creator, illustrator, and more.

(A recording of this event will be posted to the DTC Expert Series page afterwards.)
