About the event

Abstract
I never considered Application Engineering (AE) as a possible job after college. After an exciting and laborious job searching process, I ended up choosing the software company Siemens EDA with the intent to become an AE. I will share my typical workday as a Field AE from improving the product, to solving technical problems at large companies. Since I work with multiple engineering teams, I will share how these groups work together, and insights into the current state of the industry. I will also introduce the different roles within Siemens EDA and highlight some opportunities for college graduates. I will be available for a Q & A period after the presentation for any career or industry questions that come up.

About the presenter

Sam Lowe is a WSU Alumni that now works for the Electronic Design Automation company Siemens EDA. Sam has spent the last 5 years working as a Field Application Engineer going onsite at multiple large companies along the west coast supporting and deploying EDA software with engineering teams. This gives Sam an interesting perspective on the microelectronics industry, how engineering teams work together, and how newly graduated engineers start their engineering journey. Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, golfing, and playing guitar. Go Cougs!

* Lunch is provided at 12:45pm
