The School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering Seminar Series, “What is the future of education?” Presented by Chrisman Frank
About the event
What is the future of education?
Presented by
Chrisman Frank, Chief Executive Officer, Synthesis
Abstract:
What is the future of education? At Synthesis, we believe that education is vitally important — but there are simply not enough great teachers to go around, that can help our shrinking demographic of young people grow into the highly capable individuals society needs. With this in mind, and with background working with Elon Musk’s parental cohort at Ad Astra and SpaceX, we have founded a company focusing on collaboration software for kids in Pre-K—5th Grade cohort, as well as developing AI Tutors to help students master basic math and reasoning abilities.
In this seminar, Chrisman will share his journey with Synthesis, as well as his thoughts on the future of education, which will likely include a hybrid of hands-on learning, as well as AI-tutorials, so that students can develop dynamic and complex perspectives on problem solving and mathematics.
Biography:
Chrisman Frank is a founder, a serial entrepreneur and early engineer in a number of educational-tech companies, notably ClassDojo, a Software feedback platform that connects educators, students and parents, and Synthesis.com, delivering both AI tutors for students in the pre-school-5 grades, as well as team collaboration software. He founded Synthesis with Josh Dahn as an outgrowth of Elon Musk’s sponsored efforts for Ad Astra, the k-12 educational resource for children associated with SpaceX. He is an alum of Virginia Tech.
