PNNL-WSU Advanced Grid Institute Director candidate, Dr. Kory Hedman, Arizona State University, will present “Understanding Load Redistribution Cyber Attacks”

Bio

Kory W. Hedman is the Director of the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC). Dr. Hedman previously served the US Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) as a Program Director, from 2017-2020. At ARPA-E, Dr. Hedman led various efforts including the GRID DATA Program, the Grid Optimization Competition, and the recently launched Performance-based Energy Resource Feedback, Optimization, and Risk Management (PERFORM) Program. Throughout his time with ARPA-E, Dr. Hedman managed projects and programs totaling over $130M. In January of 2017, President Barack H. Obama awarded Kory Hedman with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), which is the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers; Kory was recommended by the US DOE. Dr. Hedman is an associate professor in electrical engineering and a graduate faculty in industrial engineering at Arizona State University. Dr. Hedman holds six degrees spanning electrical engineering, economics, and operations research with a Ph.D. degree in operations research from the University of California, Berkeley.
