About the lecture series

The Excellence in Leadership Lecture Series is the result of a partnership between the Black Faculty and Staff Association and the Office of the President to strengthen the culture of diversity and leadership throughout the WSU system.

The series, inaugurated in 2017, brings speakers to the Pullman campus annually. Individuals known nationally for their leadership skills and ability to inspire others to pursue leadership opportunities are invited.

“We are striving to create not only a more diverse university, but a university that creates more leadership and career opportunities for men and women of color,” WSU President Kirk Schulz says. “This lecture series helps us move forward.”

The series is also designed to help advance the University’s goal of increasing the percentage of underrepresented minority faculty, staff, and students at WSU. The goal is one of 11 metrics that will measure progress in the University’s Drive to 25, an institutional initiative to become of the nation’s top 25 public research universities by 2030.
