Mineral nutrition plays an important role in the health, productivity, reproduction, and performance of grazing beef cattle, yet developing an effective supplementation program can be challenging. This webinar will explore the importance of mineral nutrition, practical approaches for evaluating current supplementation programs, and strategies for developing effective mineral supplementation programs that meet the needs of grazing cattle.
PRESENTER: Dr. Juliana Ranches, Assistant Professor at Oregon State University
Dr. Ranches holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from the University of Florida. Her research and Extension programs focus on diverse topics important to cattle producers, with the primary goal of improving production efficiency and sustainability.
The pillars of her research program include cattle nutrition, health and welfare, production management, and precision technology.
Dr. Ranches’ Extension efforts are dedicated to educational programming for cattle producers, primarily through RancHER, a webinar series that highlights the work of women in agriculture and livestock production, and the Ranching Academy, a year-long program that combines lectures and hands-on activities. She is passionate about science and believes that knowledge transfer through peer-reviewed publications has a powerful reach and is essential for advancing the industry.
