Title: Cyberhawks and Beyond

Abstract:
CySER is a WSU-led consortium of five institutions in the Northwest established to train the next generation of military and national defense-aligned civilian workforce in cybersecurity. The other four partner institutions in CySER are: Montana State University, University of Idaho, Columbia Basin College (CBC), and Central Washington University.

This presentation will focus on activities at CBC and will consist of two parts. In the first part, Matthew Boehnke will provide an overview of the cybersecurity program at CBC. He will highlight key cybersecurity curricular activities at CBC and discuss interactions with communities and industries around the college.
The second part of the presentation will be given by Eric Robinson and will provide specific examples of recent student projects and activities around cybersecurity at CBC.

Bio:
Matthew (Matt) Boehnke is an associate professor in the Cybersecurity Department at Columbia Basin College, Pasco, WA. He is the first director of the Cybersecurity Department. He was responsible for the initial development and integration of the first ever community college level curriculum that combined real world practical applications in cybersecurity to the classroom. He has established initial and ongoing relationships with lead US Department of Energy, National Laboratory partnership and academia advisory groups.
