This lecture will revolve around elucidating the causes of episodes. Episodes may not be neurologic in origin and the clinician is encouraged to use their powers of history taking, excellent physical examination and neurologic examinations, diagnostic tools and treatments to determine the best plan of action for the patient. Possibilities for episodes include severe pain, vestibular events, syncope and other underlying metabolic illnesses as mentioned in previous lectures. The goal of this lecture is to make the clinician aware of the “great imposters” and to develop the appropriate steps for care of the confounding veterinary patient that presents with vague and sometimes confusing clinical signs.
