This lecture will cover the work veterinarians are doing with Pacific salmon enhancement programs in the Pacific Northwest. Participants will learn about management of Pacific salmon in Washington state with a focus on hatcheries and the diseases of concern common in the region. There will also be discussion about some of the major causes of declining Pacific salmon populations.

Presenter

Dr. Nora Hickey, DVM, is the Aquatic Health Laboratory Manager at Washington State University’s Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL). Prior to that she worked for seven years as the Program Veterinarian for Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission providing veterinary services to Indian salmon enhancement hatcheries in Western Washington. She is a Past President of the American Association of Fish Veterinarians.
