In today’s interconnected world, the Web has become an indispensable part of our daily lives, with web browsers serving as the central hub of our digital existence. While the continuous enhancement of modern browser functionalities substantially improves the user experience, it also opens the door to new and potentially serious security and privacy threats. This talk aims to shed light on our recent efforts to identify vulnerabilities within emerging web features and conduct an analysis of the corresponding countermeasures.

Single-atom catalysis represents an exciting area of research due to the potential to uniquely transform the activity and selectivity of transition metal catalysts. However, our fundamental understanding of their activity and stability under reaction conditions is limited.

The increased integration of renewable Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) such as wind, solar, and battery storage in the bulk power system leads to challenges for reliable operation of system protection. Traditionally, protective relays have been designed and set with the expectation of high fault currents and dynamic behavior dominated by synchronous generators. Short circuit analysis tools and models have also been developed over several decades around these assumptions. Nevertheless, these assumptions may no longer hold under IBRs, due to the different short circuit and dynamic characteristics of these resources.

This seminar focuses on my personal journey through the field and reflects on several career paths graduates can take as they look to enter the field.

In this presentation, we will discuss some innovative methods to analyze and visualize protection system behavior in this changing operational environment. A technique to include the behavior of the grid in standard protection studies will be presented. While geared towards interconnected transmission systems, these methods are applicable for distribution systems as well and the presentation will include some examples of such studies. Compliance with regulatory requirements and documentation are a natural byproduct of these analyses.
